- Spotted testing overseas
- Gets a completely revamped design
- Could be unveiled later this year
The new production-ready KTM 390 Duke has been spotted testing overseas without any camouflage. Its latest spy shots reveal the bike’s design in its entirety, and here’s a closer look at the updated 390 Duke.
As mentioned previously, the bike is equipped with an updated headlight unit. The LED DRLs still have the same boomerang-like design but are wider than before, giving the 390 Duke’s fascia a slightly more aggressive look. On closer inspection, you’ll also notice that the tank extensions have small slats, which are likely to channel cool air, towards the rider’s legs.
Not to mention, the chassis unit seems completely different as there’s a new rear subframe. The new KTM 390 Duke seems slightly more compact from the spy shots than its predecessor. It also gets a new mirror which should be oriented towards better visibility. Meanwhile, the fuel tank seems to have a fibre panel at the top, whereas the overall construction could be of metal like the current bike’s unit.
Though the test bike gets the 390 Duke stickers, it’s yet to be known if KTM has retained the 373cc mill. While it does get liquid cooling, it won’t be a surprise if the Austrian marquee amps up the engine capacity for better performance. We expect it to be mated to a six-speed gearbox and also benefit from a slipper clutch and a quickshifter. However, the gear ratios could be altered.
Some other major changes we can notice here are the new wheels, braking setup and adjustable WP front USD forks and rear off-set monoshock. The springs could also be tuned differently, owing to the weight distribution changes on the new model.
We expect a slight price hike with so many changes to the new KTM 390 Duke. It currently costs Rs. 2.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and the updated model could be priced at around Rs. 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It could be unveiled later this year at the EICMA.
