Most of us know that the Splendor and the Passion range of motorcycles are bread and butter for Hero MotoCorp. In fact, with new Chief Technology Officer and a new R&D facility in place, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer will continue to put most of its time and efforts into the mass market commuter models.
This development was confirmed by Pawan Munjal, CEO & MD, Hero MotoCorp and Markus Braunsperfer, CTO, Hero MotoCorp at the inauguration of the Center of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur. While the company has very big plans of launching a lot of models in the next couple of years, it wants to first strengthen its bread and butter range to maintain its leadership in the Indian two-wheeler market. In fact, Hero MotoCorp will also focus on premium commuter motorcycles upto 200cc at the same time. The company understands that it lacks good motorcycles in the premium bike end and that’s why the decision was taken to put resource and money into it, alongside the development of a mass market range.
Hero unveiled the Splendor 110 iSmart at the 2016 Auto Expo – their first product from ground up. This bike is expected to be launched in the next couple of weeks and help Hero get additional market share in the segment. In terms of its current bikes, Hero MotoCorp is in the process of updating some of its models cosmetically, as well as mechanically. Unfortunately, the company officials declined to give more details. But we’re hoping to see new bikes under the Splendor and Passion brand in the next couple of months.
