- Supreme Court grants 10 days extension
- Manufacturers can sell 10 per cent of unsold stocks
- Everything has to be done within 10 days post lockdown
Supreme Court of India has finally granted an extension of sale and registration of unsold BS4 stocks of motorcycles and scooters. However, there’s an extension of only 10 days post the lockdown and manufacturers are allowed to sell only 10 per cent of their overall unsold stocks.
The deadline to register BS4 vehicles was 31 March, however, the automotive industry isn’t operating due to the Covid 19 outbreak. The entire country is in lockdown for 21 days which will end on 14 April. As a result of this, manufacturers and dealers were expected to bear heavy loses.
As per the ruling, Delhi-NCR region is not part of this conditional extension. This means no sale of BS4 bikes and scooters can take place in the region post March 31. Dealers across the country were running heavy discounts on most of the unsold stocks. But this lockdown has prevented them to clear off their stocks.
