Suzuki has unveiled a new scooter called the Saluto 125 at the 2020 Taipei Motor Show in China.
The Saluto 125 is based on the Access 125 which is available in India and uses the same 124cc engine that churns out slightly higher power at 9.2bhp although torque remains the same at 10Nm. It even uses the same braking and suspension hardware as the Access 125. It rides on 10-inch wheels suspended from telescopic forks upfront and dual shocks at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is done by a disc for the front and drum for the rear.
However, the major differences come in terms of design and features. The Saluto 125 incorporates a retro styling similar to Lambretta scooters although with edgy bodywork. The scooter also gets highlights of chrome on the front apron, brake levers, grabrail and mirrors. It sports a full LED headlamp mounted on the handlebar cowl and LED DRLs on the front apron. The Saluto 125 also gets a uniquely-designed LED tail lamp and turn indicators.
Suzuki has also equipped the scooter with features like keyless ignition, a multi-function ignition slot, hazard light. Moreover, the Saluto 125 comes with a semi-digital instrument console that gets a chrome bezel around it to accentuate the scooter’s retro appeal.
While the scooter will be available in China in the next couple of months, it is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon. If launched here, it will directly take on the Vespa 125 range in the country.
