- Access 125 surpasses Jupiter sales by around 3,200 units in January
- Sales increase by 44.3 per cent as compared to last year
- Access 125 is now India's second highest selling scooter behind Honda Activa
The Suzuki Access 125 is now the second highest-selling scooter in India claiming the title from the TVS Jupiter.
Suzuki sold 54,524 units of the Access 125 in January, surpassing the TVS Jupiter's sales of 51,300 by around 3,200 units. In January 2018, Suzuki registered a sales of 37,783 units for the Access 125. As compared to last year, sales for the scooter have increased by 44.3 per cent.
On the other hand, sales for the TVS Jupiter have slumped by 21 per cent last month as opposed to January 2018 wherein it registered a sale of 64,990 units. While the Activa continues to be at the top, it also has witnessed a drop in sales last month. Honda managed to sell 2.13 lakh units of the scooter as against the 2.43 lakh units in January 2018; a decrease of 12.5 per cent.
Interestingly apart from the Honda Dio, which saw a 19 per cent sales increase and places fourth, the sales for the 100cc-110cc scooters in the list have seen a considerable drop. This change in sales numbers could be due to the increasing demand of 125cc scooters. Along with the Access 125, the list also includes 125cc scooters like the Hero Destini 125 and TVS Ntorq at fifth and sixth place respectively.
