- New e-Access launch this year
- e-Burgman scooter will be launched later
- Likely to be launched in third quarter
Suzuki is planning to make its electric scooter debut sometime this year. The company is planning to launch the electric version of its highest-selling scooter – the Access.
According to our sources, the Japanese brand has readied their first EV, which has been co-developed with the engineers in Japan. While the company has been testing the Burgman Street electric over the last two years, it will be the Access that will make its presence felt in India first.
This new EV is likely to be called the e-Access – a naming convention also seen on the e-Burgman. In terms of design, Suzuki will be taking the same approach as with the e-Burgman – the overall styling and body components will be similar to the ICE model, but will have a ‘blue’ paint scheme to showcase its eco-friendly nature.
Currently, there are no details on the motor capacity, battery and the riding range, but it is expected to have a 125cc scooter performance. In terms of features, Suzuki won’t give this scooter a lot of fancy ones to keep costs in check. The company plans to keep a close watch on brands like Honda and Yamaha and will take an exact call on the launch date based on the rival products.
