Suzuki has reduced the prices of two big bikes in its range, the Hayabusa and the GSX-R1000R. The Hayabusa now retails at Rs 13.59 lakhs while the GSX-R1000R will set you back by Rs 19.80 lakhs (both ex-showroom).
Earlier this year, the government announced a reduction in import duty on completely built unit (CBU) motorcycles. The duty went down from 75 per cent to 50 per cent, and several manufacturers have slashed prices to reflect this. The GSX-R1000R price has gone down from Rs 22 lakhs to 19.8 lakhs, which translates to a saving of 10 per cent.
While CBUs have become cheaper, the government had increased the duty on locally assembled motorcycles from 10 per cent to 15 cent. Despite this, Suzuki has announced a price cut for the Hayabusa, which is a locally assembled model. Prices have gone down from Rs 13.87 lakhs to Rs 13.59 lakhs. There is no word on whether there will be a drop in prices of the rest of the Suzuki big bike range.
