- 9,284 Suzuki Avenis sold last month
- Around 500 units over Burgman Street
- Powered by the same 124cc engine
Suzuki Motorcycle and Scooter India launched the Avenis 125 in the country early this year as a sportier alternative to Burgman Street. Now, only a few months later, the scooter has surpassed the sales numbers of the latter.
The Suzuki Avenis 125 registered a sale of 9,284 units in June; a slight increase over the 8,922 units sold in May. In comparison, 8,793 units of Burgman Street were sold last month. And this is a drop from the 12,990 units sold in May. With that said, the sales of the Suzuki Avenis are still way off from the TVS Ntorq 125 that managed to sell 22,741 units last month.
The Avenis and Burgman Street share most of their components and hardware. They are also based on the same platform and are powered by the same 124cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 8.58bhp and 10Nm and is mated to a CVT gearbox.
However, the Avenis takes on a sporty approach to its styling while the Burgman Street is inspired by maxi-scooters. In terms of pricing too, the two scooters are minutely different. While the Burgman Street starts at Rs 88,900 and goes up to Rs 92,800, the Avenis is priced from Rs 87,500 to Rs 89,000 (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi)
