- Burgman electric scooter patent drawings leaked
- Battery placed in under-seat storage
- India launch delayed
Suzuki India has been testing the Burgman Street electric scooter for a few months now. While we do know some details of this EV from Suzuki, the world had no idea of what’s underneath, until now.
According to the leaked patent drawings of the Suzuki Burgman electric, this upcoming EV is built around the same frame as the conventional scooter. But drastic changes have been made to make it green-friendly. That said, the AC motor is placed far forward in the frame – just below the seat. And the inside of the floorboard has a smartly placed AC-DC converter.
The interesting bit here is that this Suzuki was known for its excellent under-seat storage – and sadly, the electric version won’t have any as that space will be used to keep the battery. However, the battery size is likely to be big compared to the rivals and that means a better riding range on a single charge. Further, the DC-AC converter has been placed on the side of the battery pack to control the voltages.
We were expecting the Japanese brand to launch this e-scooter later this year, but rumours are suggesting a massive delay. We can expect this Burgman Street electric scooter to become the first EV launch from Suzuki India.
