- Suzuki Burgman Street electric production might begin soon
- Another test mule spotted in Pune
- India launch could take place by the end of this year
Suzuki might be ready to hop on the electric bandwagon soon in India. The electric version of the Burgman Street 125 has been spied multiple times before, revealing a few details about it. While the technical specifications of the electric scooter are still awaited, the latest spy shots hint that it will go into production soon, followed by an official launch.
You’ll be hard-pressed to distinguish the Burgman Street electric from its petrol-powered iteration as the former carries a bodywork identical to the latter. But look closely and you’ll notice the absence of an exhaust, replaced by a motor assembly at the rear wheel. Another difference is in the suspension setup. While the ICE version employs a single-sided monoshock, the e-scooter gets dual shock absorbers at the rear. Additionally, the blue accents on white paint are also unique to this electric version.
As for the technical details, speculating is all we can do for now. In line with its competitors like the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube, the Burgman Street electric might deliver a range in the ballpark of 60-80kms with a similar top speed. Suzuki might also provide a fast-charging facility and/or battery swapping feature. The digital console will most likely come with Bluetooth connectivity.
While the exact timeline of its launch is not known yet, expect Suzuki to introduce the Burgman Street electric by the end of this year with a price tag of over Rs 1 lakh.
