- Suzuki Burgman Street electric version spotted
- The company had revealed EV plans in June last year
- India launch likely to take place soon
After major bike makers like Bajaj and TVS entered the electric two-wheeler genre, the next player in the segment could be Suzuki. The Japanese two-wheeler brand was recently spotted testing the electric version of its popular maxi-scooter, the Burgman Street 125.
Two test mules of the Burgman Street electric were spotted and the clear indicator of them being EVs was the absence of an exhaust. Also, the rear suspension was placed on the right side, as opposed to the left-mounted spring in its petrol-powered counterpart. Except for these changes, both the test mules sported a design which was identical to the conventional model of the Burgman. The alloy wheels and telescopic front forks have also been left untouched.
Although the technical specifications of the scooter are not known yet, expect it to have a top speed equivalent to a 110cc conventional scooter. As for the features, it will definitely come equipped with full-LED lighting and a fully-digital instrument cluster.
Suzuki working on an electric scooter comes as no surprise. As we had told you in June last year, the brand’s top honcho, Koichiro Hirao himself had disclosed that they are working on an EV. At present, the company is looking for a favourable EV policy which will aid in planning its future line-up and expansion. Now that the electric scooter is already in the testing phase, we might hear something official soon.
