The arrival of the Suzuki Burgman Street is just around a fortnight away. Once launched, the Burgman Street will go head on against the TVS Ntorq 125 in India. So, how do the scooters fare against each other? We find out.
Design and features
The Suzuki Burgman Street sports a maxi-scooter like styling borrowed from its bigger sibling, the Burgman 650. The scooter sports an edgy front end that houses a small windscreen, turn indicators and a full-LED headlamp. The Burgman Street also sports an LED taillight. On the other hand, the Ntorq has a more aggressive design with sharper creases. The scooter gets a conventional headlamp with an LED DRL and turn indicators positioned on the steering unit.
The Burgman Street is equipped with a full digital instrument cluster. It displays speed, odometer, clock, fuel range and oil change indicator.
TVS on the other hand, has thrown all the possible bells and whistles on the Ntorq 125. The scooter also gets a Bluetooth-enabled, full-digital instrument cluster which displays an array of information like navigation assist, top-speed recorder, lap timer, phone battery display, last parked location assist, service reminder, helmet reminder, trip meter along with the basic information.
Engine
The Suzuki Burgman Street borrows the 125cc engine from the Access. This unit produces 8.6bhp and 10.2Nm of torque. Powering the Ntorq 125 is a 124cc engine that produces 9.3bhp and 10.5Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the Burgman Street.
Cycle parts
Both scooters ride on telescopic front suspensions with a monoshock at the rear. The scooters also get a front disc brake and CBS (combined braking system) as standard equipment.
While the TVS Ntorq sports a 5-litre fuel tank, the Burgman Street gets a slightly larger 5.6-litre fuel tank capacity. In return, the Ntorq 125 offers a bigger 22-litre underseat storage as compared to the Burgman Street’s 21.5-litre storage.
Pricing
The TVS Ntorq 125 carries a price tag of Rs 62,300 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Suzuki Burgman Street is likely to demand a slightly higher price. We can expect it to cost around Rs 70,000 – Rs 72,000 (ex-showroom) when launched.
