The success of the new Suzuki Access and the Gixxer has failed to get Suzuki dealers excited about this Ganeshotsav. Though the festive season usually is an important time for two-wheeler dealerships, Suzuki dealers aren’t expecting a significant increase in footfalls this year.
Many Suzuki dealerships currently have a waiting period for the Gixxer and the new Access, and it seems like they don’t mind a continuity in this trend. When asked whether they plan to stock up their inventory in preparation for the additional turnout, they said that they weren’t expecting any drastic change in the number of purchases or enquiries. The dealerships would rather have a waiting period rather than risk getting stuck with excess stock of motorcycles and scooters.
Suzuki’s sales since the past few months have been quite consistent, though devoid of any significant growth. However, the situation seems to be improving now with the launch of the disc brake variant of the new Access. The new Access has turned out to be quite a hit among the Indian audience. Suzuki’s strategy of giving the new Access a retro flavour to add a premium touch to the scooter seems to be working its magic. Customers have also been showing interest in going for the top of the line version with alloy wheels and front disc brake, thanks to the visual appeal. The Gixxer and Gixxer SF also seem to be doing well. The company recently added new paint schemes and an optional rear disc brake to the premium commuter bikes, giving them a new lease of life.
