- Gets swappable battery tech from Gachaco
- Currently undergoing battery-swap demonstration experiments
- Gets a riding range of 44km
A prototype of the Suzuki e-Burgman electric scooter has been showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023. Suzuki is testing the electric scooter as a part of a demonstration experiment using the Gachaco replaceable battery system.
The Suzuki e-Burgman demonstration experiments started in April 2023 in Tokyo, and are currently being conducted in Osaka as well. Through this demonstration experiment, Suzuki will collect critical ride data, which is necessary for motorcycles and scooters used for commuting to work, school, shopping, and other daily activities. Suzuki will also use this information to develop future electric vehicles.
According to the official details available on Suzuki’s website, the e-Burgman uses an AC synchronous electric motor that produces a maximum power of 4kw and a peak torque of 18Nm. Although the battery capacity is unknown, the replaceable lithium-ion battery pack offers a range of 44km when ridden at a speed of 60kmph.
In terms of dimensions, the electric scooter is 1,825mm long, 765mm wide, and 1,140mm tall. The e-Burgman has a kerb weight of 147kg and a seat height of 780mm. In addition to this, Suzuki, in partnership with Gachaco, will set up battery-swapping stations throughout Japan.
