Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the more environment-friendly version of its quarter-litre street bike, the Gixxer 250 BS6. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 163,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is a premium of Rs 3,600 over its BS4 counterpart.
The Gixxer 250 has received changes only in its engine while remaining untouched in all other aspects. Interestingly, the power figures are also nearly the same as before. The 249cc, single cylinder, fuel-injected SOHC engine of the bike churns out 26.1bhp which comes in at 9,300rpm while the torque rating of 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm has stayed as it is. This powerplant comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The new-age design of the Gixxer 250 is identical to its smaller 155cc sibling. It incorporates LED headlamp and tail lamp with LED DRL while the instrumentation comprises of an LCD console. It is underpinned by a diamond frame which rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Undulations are absorbed by telescopic forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by a disc brake at both ends. It gets a 12 litre fuel tank and the kerb weight stands at 156kgs.
In terms of displacement and body style, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6 competes against the Yamaha FZ25 and the new Bajaj Dominar 250 in India.
