-Recall for engine camshaft replacement
-Certain batches affected
-Dealers to conduct replacement free of cost
The Suzuki Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250 and the V-Strom SX have been recalled due to an issue with the engine camshaft. The three bikes employ the same 249cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine and there is said to be an abnormal wear of the exhaust cam lobe. This is likely caused by improper heat treatment of parts in a certain batch of engine during production. The affected engines may suffer from sudden stalling and make abnormal noises.
Suzuki dealerships are in the process of identifying the affected lot of engines and contacting the respective owners. The part in question will be replaced at the dealer’s official service centers for free. We reached out to Suzuki India for further clarifications and comments about the recall but the company has none for now.
This is the second instance of the Gixxer 250/ Gixxer 250 SF being recalled. The last time was in 2021 where Suzuki had recalled 199 units to fix an issue with excessive engine vibrations.
