- Suzuki teases BS6 Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250
- Also reveals specifications of their BS6-compliant engine
- Prices had already been revealed last month
Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially teased the BS6 models of its quarter litre offerings, the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250. The official pages of both the bikes feature a ‘coming soon’ tag on the website indicating that the launch is in the offing. Interestingly, the company has also updated the specifications of the Gixxer 250 and SF 250.
A leaked brochure had already revealed the BS6 engine specifications of both bikes last month. They continue to be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine. However, the BS6-bound changes have resulted in a marginal difference in its power figures. The updated powerplant generates 26.1bhp at 9,300rpm and 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm. As compared to the BS4 motor, the torque is down by 0.4Nm but comes in 200rpm earlier while the peak power, although remains the same, kicks in 300rpm later.
What’s surprising is that the kerb weight of the Gixxer 250 and the SF 250 are the same as their BS4 counterparts, despite the additional components for BS6 compliance. While the former weighs 156kg, the latter tips the scales at 161kg. Both bikes also remain unchanged in terms of styling and features. While the Gixxer features a naked street bike styling, the SF version sports a faired sportsbike design. They come equipped with LED headlamp and tail lamp along with a fully-digital instrument console.
Suzuki is yet to reveal the prices of the BS6 Gixxer 250 and SF 250. But thanks to our dealer sources, we have told you that they will be expensive by around Rs 5,000 over their respective BS4 iterations. The prices of the BS4 Gixxer 250 and SF 250 stand at Rs 1,59,800 and Rs 1,70,655, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
