- The Gixxer 250 is priced Rs 11,000 lesser than the Gixxer SF 250
- Gets similar styling as the Gixxer 155
- Comes in two colour options
Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its new quarter-litre naked streetbike, the Gixxer 250, in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 1,59,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes it around Rs 11,000 more affordable than its fully-faired version, the Gixxer SF 250.
The motorcycle looks closely similar to its 155cc sibling, the Gixxer. It features an LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank, sharp tank extensions, split seat and a svelte tail section. What differentiates it from its smaller sibling is the dual-tone colour scheme, slightly boxy dual exhaust end, bronze-finished engine, underbelly cowl and machined alloy wheels. In terms of features, it gets a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster.
Powering the motorcycle is the same 249cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder motor which does duty on its fully-faired version. This engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and churns out 26.1 bhp and 22.6Nm. Suspension duties are carried out by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is taken care of by disc brake at both ends while dual-channel ABS comes as standard.
Suzuki has launched the Gixxer 250 in two colour options – Metallic Matte Platinum Silver with Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte black shade. Considering its styling and engine capacity, the streetbike goes up against the KTM 250 Duke and the Yamaha FZ25. However, with a premium of Rs 20,000 over the Gixxer 250, one can also consider the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400.
