- Features single-channel ABS
- Rs 10,235 more expensive than base variant
- Available in three paint schemes
Suzuki has launched the Gixxer ABS variant in India at Rs 87,250 (ex-showroom). This variant is Rs 10,235 pricier than the standard variant and Rs 6,320 pricier than the rear disc variant.
So far, the single-channel ABS was offered as an optional extra only in the Gixxer’s fully-faired sibling – the Gixxer SF. Now though, the streetfighter also gets this option. There are no other cosmetic or technological changes in the bike. It continues to be powered by a 155cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine which delivers 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission.
ABS will soon become mandatory for every motorcycle sold in the country with an engine capacity more than 125cc. While some manufacturers like Suzuki have already started introducing this safety feature, others are waiting it out until the regulation kicks in on 1 April 2019. The Gixxer ABS is available in three metallic paint schemes – blue, black and red. It competes against the TVS apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and the Honda CB Hornet 160R.
