The 2018 edition of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup is scheduled to commence on 5 July at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimabtore.
The selection process for the Gixxer Cup will also be held at Kari on 2 July. Similar to the previous seasons, the racers will be riding the race-tuned Gixxer SF and compete against each other in two categories. There is the JK Tyre Suzuki Gixxer Cup for riders aged 17 years and above and the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup which will have riders aged between 12 and 16 years.
The final list will consist of 22 racers for the Gixxer Cup and 12 riders for the Red Bull Rookie Cup. The riders will then be given a 3-day technical training session after which they can obtain an FMSCI 2W License. This will be followed by theory and track riding sessions.
The first three rounds of the 2018 Suzuki Gixxer Cup will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway with the finale at the Buddh International Circuit between 15-18 November. The event is being conducted under the FIM and FMSCI in association with JK Tyre Motorsports and was launched 3 years ago in 2015.
Anyone 12 years and above can participate and should be present at the Kari Motor Speedway on 2 July. The riders need to come along with their own helmet, riding leathers, gloves and boots. Registrations are open on the official Suzuki Gixxer Cup website.
