Suzuki has revealed the Gixxer SF-Fi along with a new rear disc brake variant of the Gixxer streetfighter at the 2016 Auto Expo.
What's new?
While they might look identical to the previous models, the new Gixxer and the Gixxer SF-Fi feature a couple of very important technological updates. Here the streetfighter gets a 240mm disc brake for the rear wheel and the Gixxer SF-Fi also gets a electronic fuel-injection system. This system should not only improve the throttle response and to some extent the performance of the bike, but also take care of the stuttering problem that has plagued the carburetted version. Apart from these updates, the Gixxer also gets a new funky dual-tone paint scheme. The Gixxer SF-Fi will only be available in the MotoGP edition, though given the way this livery looks, we aren't complaining.
India relevance
While the Gixxer and Gixxer SF have proven to be the champion of the pack time and again. While the sales numbers have been very encouraging, the numbers are far behind those of the Yamaha FZ-S. Also with the launch of the Honda CB Hornet 160R, it has become obvious that Suzuki will have to up the ante. At such a time, these two models are sure to infuse a new life into the line-up.
Launch plans
Both these new models are expected to be launched in India in the next couple of months. While the Gixxer rear disc brake variant is expected to cost Rs 2,000 more than the standard bike, the Gixxer SF-Fi might set you back by an extra Rs 10,000.
