Suzuki has officially launched its new 150cc motorcycle - the Gixxer, at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Gixxer is a premium 150cc offering that competes with the Yamaha FZ, Hero Xtreme, TVS Apache 160 and the Honda CB Trigger.
The Gixxer is powered by a carbureted, 2-valve, single-cylinder 155cc engine paired with a five-speed gearbox. It produces 14.8bhp of maximum power at 8000rpm and 14Nmtorque at 6000rpm. It features Suzuki claims that the engine, despite having similar power figures as the GS150R, delivers better performance and efficiency, thanks to the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology.
The Gixxer gets conventional telescopic forks and a disc brake at the front and a monoshock setup at the rear. The short and stylish exhaust borrows design cues from the bigger Suzuki GSX-R motorcycles. The Gixxer is available in five colours- metallic triton blue, oort grey metallic, candy antares red, peal mirage white and glass sparkle black.
Currently, Suzuki has the GS150 R in the 150cc segment, but then it hasn’t done well. With the Gixxer, they will try to capture a bigger share of the 150cc segment.
