- Design and technical details leaked
- Full-fairing with split-seat design, clip-on handlebars and golden engine side covers
- Powered by 249cc single-cylinder oil-cooled motor producing 26.1bhp and 22.6Nm
While Suzuki Motorcycle India has been gearing up for the launch of the Gixxer SF 250 on 20 May, details of the new motorcycle have now been leaked.
The spied images provide a clear idea of the design and specification of the motorcycle. Starting with the looks, the Gixxer SF 250 features a full-fairing with sleek contours that extends towards the fuel tank while covering a major portion of the engine. It features a beak-type headlamp which will be equipped with LED units, tinted windscreen and fairing-mounted side mirrors. Moving further, it sports a split-type seat with a raised pillion seat which should offer good lower back support for the rider. The tail section follows the same sleek design with well-defined lines and comes equipped with a split-type grab rail design. The exhaust system is similar in design to the Gixxer SF model with a twin-exhaust outlet. However, it gets a body coloured cover and chrome finished exhaust tip. Besides that, the motorcycle features clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs which should offer a sporty yet comfortable riding stance.
Moving to the mechanical bits, the soon-to-be-launched Gixxer SF 250 will be powered by a 249cc 4-stroke SOHC 4-valve single-cylinder oil-cooled mill. The engine has been rated to produce a maximum power output of 26.1bhp at 9000 rpm and a peak torque figure of 22.6Nm at 7500pm. Equipped with fuel-injection, the engine comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
Furthermore, the Gixxer SF 250 will be suspended by telescopic forks up front and a swingarm type monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle will ride on 17-inch dual 5-spoke alloy wheel shod with a 110/70 section tyre for the front and a 150/60 section tyre for the rear. For braking, the motorcycle will employ disc brakes at both ends and will be equipped with dual-channel ABS.
In terms of dimensions and weight, the motorcycle will feature a wheelbase of 1345mm which is 15mm more than the Gixxer SF. Ground clearance stands at 165mm while seat height has been comfortably set at 800mm. Feature a 12-litre fuel tank, the Gixxer SF 250 will tip the scales at 161 kg.
With a fully-faired design and interesting power figures, the Gixxer S F 250 seems to be an interesting proposition from Suzuki India. With the launch date coming soon, we hope Suzuki prices the motorcycle competitively in the market. On the competition front, the Gixxer SF 250 will rival against the Yamaha FZ 25 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
