- Gixxer SF 250 launch on 20 May
- Will be powered by a 249cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine
- Naked streetfighter likely to be launched later
It’s finally happening! Suzuki’s most awaited motorcycle, the Gixxer SF 250 is likely to be launched in India on 20 May.
The Japanese maker has sent an invite to block the date. The invite has a teaser image of its upcoming bike. It shows off its headlight and some bits of its fairing. A close look at teaser image reveals that the design of the fairing has been inspired from the GSX-S1000F – a semi-faired litre-class touring motorcycle from Suzuki.
According to our sources, Suzuki has readied two motorcycles based on the new 250cc platform. However, the SF 250, which is the faired version is likely to be introduced on 20 May. The naked version is likely to make its way in the next few months. Unfortunately, there’s no news on a GSX-R variant of this bike. The brand GSX-R is related to a proper fully-faired sportsbike. There’s the GSX-250R in other markets, but this bike won’t make its way to India anytime soon as has a parallel-twin engine setup and that will make it quite pricier.
The Gixxer SF 250 is likely to get an aggressive design, and has been specially designed for India’s youth. Our sources says majority of the styling work has been done in Japan, whereas the powertrain has been co-developed with the Indian arm.
The dealer-level training for this Suzuki is expected to begin from 15 May, and the bikes will be at showrooms soon after the launch. In terms of pricing, we are expecting it to be priced between Rs 1.25 lakhs and Rs 1.35 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
