-Gets sharp styling and a 249cc, single-cylinder motor
-Expected to cost around Rs 1.75 lakhs
Suzuki is all-set to launch the Gixxer SF 250 in India tomorrow, 20 May. The manufacturer has shifted its focus to the premium segment owing to better prospects in the country and the Gixxer SF 250 will be one of those.
We recently got our hands on the official images of the motorcycle. The bike has an aggressive styling that has been derived from the earlier GSX-R1000. It gets a full-fairing with a full-LED headlamp in the front, a muscular tank, sharp tail section and a neatly-designed twin-outlet exhaust. Furthermore, the Gixxer SF 250 sports clip-on handlebars and a split-seat setup that adds to its sporty appeal.
Powering the motorcycle is a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled fuel-injected engine that generates 26.1bhp at 9000 rpm and a peak torque figure of 22.6Nm at 7500pm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Using telescopic forks for the front and a monoshock at the rear, the motorcycle will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Meanwhile braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with a dual-channel ABS.
As we mentioned in our recent story, we expect the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 to cost somewhere around Rs 1.70 lakh and Rs 1.75 lakhs, ex-showroom and is expected to be available in two colour schemes. It will compete against the likes of the Yamaha Fazer 25, KTM RC200 and the Honda CBR250R in the country.
