The Suzuki Gixxer SF is one of the most affordable fully-faired motorcycles in India. It shares its platform with the naked Gixxer but offers a racier track bike-like personality. In case you’re planning to buy one anytime soon, here’s all you need to know about the motorcycle.
Design
The styling of the Gixxer SF is inspired by the bigger GSX-R models which is pretty evident from its headlamp which looks like a trident. While its short windscreen looks a little out of the place, the rest of the elements like the angular fairing blending into the sculpted fuel tank and the upswept pointed tail section make it look handsome and proportionate.
It is available in three colour options – Red, Black and MotoGP-inspired blue shade.
Features
When it comes to features, there isn’t much to write home about. It gets an LED headlamp and tail lamp along with conventional turn indicators. While the instrument cluster is an LCD unit, it misses out on Bluetooth connectivity. It also misses out on other safety aids like a slipper clutch or dual-channel ABS.
Engine
This is one of the strongest traits of the motorcycle – a 155cc, air-cooled engine that is acceptably smooth and refined and has a good mid-range grunt. As for the performance numbers, 13.4bhp of power and 13.8Nm of torque are what you have at your disposal. Transmission duties are taken care of by a five-speed unit.
Cycle parts
It’s based on a diamond-type chassis that’s extremely light and communicative translating into a motorcycle that’s agile and easy to handle. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, it’s suspended by telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear. The stopping power comes from a single disc at both ends.
Price and competition
The Suzuki Gixxer SF is available in only a single variant which is pegged at Rs 1,35,400 (ex-showroom). The only other 155cc fully-faired motorcycle on sale in India is the Yamaha YZF R15 V4 but that’s much more powerful and feature-loaded. The naked bikes available in this segment include the Hero Xtreme 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and the Honda X-Blade.
