Suzuki has launched special edition models of the Gixxer, christened Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP, at Rs 81,175 and Rs 99,312 (both ex-showroom) respectively. These models get a unique livery to set them apart from the standard models.
While the Gixxer SP is available with a rear disc brake as standard, the Gixxer SF SP gets a rear disc brake, fuel injection as well as a single-channel ABS system. They feature a unique red, white and black paint scheme, along with a bunch of ‘SP’ badges all around. Under the skin, these models are identical to the standard version, and are powered by a 155cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine delivering 14bhp and 14Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
While the Gixxer SF SP costs exactly as much as a Gixxer SF FI ABS, the Gixxer SP is Rs 1,050 pricier than a standard double-disc variant. The Gixxer and Gixxer SF have been quite successful in the Indian market and have helped build a sporty image for the brand. The frequent updates like new paint schemes and special edition models have helped the company keep the sales numbers consistent.
