Suzuki is preparing itself for the launch of their new 155cc motorcycle- the Gixxer. The bike may be launched in the next week and according to our sources, the dealerships will receive the first lot of Gixxer motorcycles by August 15.
Suzuki unveiled the Gixxer in January this year and displayed it at the Auto Expo. The motorcycle has been developed by the engineers who designed the Suzuki GSX-R series of bikes. With a headlight shaped similar to that of the Pulsar 200NS, the bike gets a dual shape exhaust which grabs one attention. Its styling is similar to the exhaust of the GSX-R while body coloured grab-rails can be seen at the back. The bike gets a normal reflector tail lamp and not LED ones that are seen on most bikes available today.
The Gixxer features telescopic forks at the front, and single-shock suspension with an aluminium swing-arm at the rear. The bike gets wide tubeless tyres which the company says will enhance the stability of the bike. On the braking front, the motorcycle is equipped with a front disc brake and a drum brake at the rear. Another highlight is the special Y shape, three-spoke alloys on the bike and the fully digital instrument cluster.
The Suzuki Gixxer is powered by a four-stroke single cylinder air-cooled 155cc engine that produces 14bhp of power. This mill comes equipped with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology which helps to deliver both good performance as well as fuel efficiency. The Gixxer gets a five-speed manual gearbox, unlike the GS150R which is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
Suzuki will launch the Gixxer next week and currently the dealerships are accepting bookings for the bike. The motorcycle will arrive at the showrooms next week when it will be ready for dispatch to prospective buyers as well. The Gixxer might cost Rs 72,000 to Rs 75,000 when launched and will compete with the Hero Extreme, Yamaha FZ, Honda Trigger and Bajaj Pulsar 150 in the Indian market.
