Suzuki unveiled their 150cc segment Gixxer motorcycle along with the Let's scooter just before the Auto Expo 2014. The upcoming two wheelers were exhibited at the biennial event but not all details were revealed then. Now the Let’s scooter is available in the Indian market while the Gixxer is yet to be launched. A report from an Indonesian website has leaked the power output figures of the bike.
The report says that the Gixxer, which is powered by a single-cylinder 150 cc engine, will produce 13.9PS and 13.4Nm of peak torque. It comes close to the Suzuki GSR150R, which is another 150 cc motorcycle from the manufacturer. The GSR150R is currently available in India and has a similar power output of 13.8 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 13.4 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. However, the Gixxer should have an edge over the GS150R in terms of fuel economy as it is equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) that is meant to extract more mileage from the engine.
The Suzuki Gixxer will be launched in Indonesia this year and might be exported from India via the CBU or CKD route. It will compete with the Byson (Yamaha FZ-16) in the Indonesian market. We expect the Gixxer to go on sale in India in August this year.
