The new Suzuki GSX-8R has been launched in India at Rs 9.25 lakh. This is Suzuki’s answer to the Triumph Daytona 660 and one of the sportiest-looking Suzuki motorcycles in a year.
The design is sharp, and aggressive while also being proportionate. The creases on the fairing, the vertically stacked LED headlights and the slim air intakes look quite neat.
At the heart of the Suzuki GSX-8R is a 776cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. And, in case you are wondering, this is the same engine that is present in the Suzuki V-Strom SX as well.
Under the bodywork, there is a steel diamond frame that is suspended by a Showa SFF-BP USD fork and a monoshock. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres.
Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by twin 310mm discs at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
It has been a long time since Suzuki India has fielded a motorcycle in the 800cc segment. The Suzuki GSX-S750 was on sale for some time and was discontinued after emission norms became stricter. The GSX-8R will be hoping to pick up from where its predecessor left.
