Suzuki India has launched the second of its big-capacity sports bike in India, the GSX-8R. Here are five things you should know about it.
Design
The Suzuki GSX-8R gets a sporty appearance with its full-faired bodywork. The front profile gets a slightly polarising setup that comprises vertically stacked projector LED headlights with an LED DRL at the top. Overall, the GSX-8R seems quite compact thanks to its stubby tail section. It is offered in three colours - Blue, White, and Black.
Features
Along with LED illumination, the GSX-8R also gets ride-by-wire, low rpm assist, traction control, bi-directional quickshifter, ride modes, ABS, and easy start. It gets a full digital instrument console which allows you to toggle through the various options.
Engine
Powering the Suzuki GSX-8R is a 776cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It comes with a 270-degree crank and belts 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm of peak torque at 6,800rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slip-and-assist clutch.
Hardware
The motor is nestled in a steel frame suspended on Showa SFF-BP forks and a linked rear shock. Its braking hardware includes a dual 310mm front and a single 240mm rear disc mounted on 17-inch wheels. These are wrapped in Dunlop RoadSport 2 tyres.
Price
The asking price for the Suzuki GSX-8R is set at Rs. 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the Triumph Daytona 660.
