- Gets special livery
- Benefits from additional accessories
- India launch unlikely
Suzuki Motor Company has announced the launch of a special edition GSX-8S for the French market. This new variant of the KTM 890 Duke rival benefits from a special Suzuki Endurance Racing Team livery and celebrates the company’s success in the Endurance World Championship (EWC).
The visual changes to this special edition model include a custom graphics package that comprises a unique livery. This includes black base paint along with red, white, and blue graphics that are visible on the headlight cowl, fuel tank, engine cowl, and rear panel. Then, this variant also gets accessories such as tank pads, a windscreen, and a tail tidy kit to further distinguish it from the standard model.
Meanwhile, the styling cues, which are similar to the standard model, comprise a vertically stacked, twin-pod headlight that is flanked by twin DRLs, sleek LED turn indicators, a flat handlebar, split-style seats, and an underbelly exhaust.
The hardware and specifications, too, are similar to the standard GSX-8S. Thus, this special edition model continues to use the 776cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crankshaft design. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor delivers a maximum power and peak torque output of 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm, respectively. The company claims a fuel economy of 23.8kmpl that, along with its 14-litre fuel tank, should give the GSX-8S a range of over 300km.
While the SERT edition is not likely to arrive in India, we expect the standard model to be launched here in the near future. The India launch details, however, are not available yet.
