- Pegged as a commuter bike
- Powered by a fuel-injected 147cc engine
- Won’t be launched in India
Suzuki has unveiled a new commuter bike, christened as the Bandit 150, at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Based on the GSX-S150, the Bandit is the Gixxer’s equivalent for the Indonesian market.
Although it uses the same diamond frame as the sportier GSX-S150, the Bandit gets a different subframe to accommodate the single-piece seat. The styling gets a youthful appeal with a sculpted tank, edgy tank extensions, sharp-looking LED headlamp setup and the engine cowl. The digital instrument console has been borrowed from the Gixxer.
At the heart of the GSX150 Bandit 150 is a 147.3cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill, mated to a six-speed gearbox. It delivers 18.9bhp and 14Nm of torque. The Bandit rides on telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock.
We do not expect the Bandit to be launched in India anytime soon. Suzuki recently introduced new paint schemes for the Gixxer and the Gixxer SF which have given its sales numbers a shot in the arm. Rumours suggest that Suzuki will be introducing major updates for the premium commuter next year, although the company has maintained a tight lip about this.
