Suzuki has launched their latest quarter-litre supersport bike – the GSX250R in Europe. This parallel-twin bike gets a price tag of £4,299 (Rs 3.52 lakh).
The GSX250R is Suzuki’s answer to Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Yamaha YZF-R3 and also the KTM RC390. The Japanese manufacturer has managed to undercut the Ninja 300 by £600 (Rs 49,000) and the R3 by £800 (Rs 65,500). The GSX250R is also £800 (Rs 65,500) cheaper than the KTM RC390. Suzuki is also offering this motorcycle in the MotoGP livery but is demanding £100 (Rs 8,100) more for that.
The GSX250R makes 25bhp and 23Nm from its 248cc parallel-twin motor. The engine transfers the power to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The bike gets telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock in the rear.
The 250cc parallel-twin segment in India doesn’t have a lot of products But whatever bikes the market has are on the expensive side, even though all of them (R3, Ninja 300) are assembled in India. If Suzuki plans to bring the GSX250R to India, it needs to localise a lot of components in order to price it competitively. This is required if the company wants to get the maximum sales in the segment.
