- Likely to be equipped with VVT
- Could help meet the next-gen emission norms
- Patent document leaked
Suzuki could be working on a significant update for the Hayabusa as a new patent document has been leaked online. It reveals that Hayabusa could get a VVT (Variable Valve Timing) system in the near future. This could be done to make sure that the bike continues to offer higher power figures while obeying the next-generation emission norms.
From the leaked images, it appears that the upcoming VVT setup could be a simple setup that may not need an extensive makeover. It uses a hydraulic cam phaser and would alter the timing for the intake valves in a manner that it allows the cylinder to get fresh air/fuel mixture as per the revs. This would be done while monitoring that the unburned mixture does not enter the exhaust valve.
As per the leaked drawings, Suzuki could use a conventional oil-pressure system. Since the VVT system can’t be patented, the main objective here is on the actuator that regulates the opening and closing of the oil flow. As of now, the Suzuki Hayabusa is in its third generation. Compared to the previous two iterations, the latest one received a small bump in its engine capacity.
The 2023 Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc inline four-cylinder motor that dishes out 190 bhp and 142 Nm. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a quickshifter. With the above-mentioned changes, we could witness an even more powerful motor in the Japanese supersports. Currently, the Suzuki Hayabusa is priced at Rs. 16.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and available in three paint schemes.
