The new Access 125 and the Hayate EP were unveiled earlier this month at the 2016 Auto Expo, though Suzuki had stopped short of officially launching them. Now, our sources have revealed that Suzuki is planning to launch these products in April.
The Hayate EP is underpinned by a revised version of the diamond frame, with a longer wheelbase. The 112cc single-cylinder engine has also been updated to improve efficiency. It is also marginally more powerful, producing 8.7bhp and 9.3Nm of torque. Cosmetically, there aren’t many changes apart from addition of new decals and paint schemes. It also gets a longer seat, new preload adjustable rear springs, tubeless tyres and a maintenance free battery.

With the new Access 125, Suzuki plans to take a shot at the premium scooter segment. It gets a slew of cosmetic changes including a new front apron, redesigned bodywork and revised chrome-rimmed headlamp. It is powered by a new 125cc single-cylinder engine, which delivers 8.7bhp and 10Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. Powertrains of both, the Hayate EP and the Access 125, come armed with the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology. SEP reduces mechanical losses in the engine, thereby improving the efficiency of the scooter without compromising the performance.
The despatch of display models for Suzuki showrooms across the country is expected to commence in the last week of March. Dealerships are expected to start accepting bookings for these products around the same time. The Hayate EP will rival other 110cc commuter motorcycles like the TVS Victor, Mahindra Centuro, Hero Passion XPro and the Honda CD 110 Dream. The Access 125 on the other hand, will compete with the Honda Activa 125 and the upcoming Mahindra Gusto 125.
