Suzuki Motorcycle India pulled of the Inazuma from its official website few weeks ago. And since then, the internet has been talking about whether the bike has been officially discontinued. However, as per a new report, the company will no longer sell the Inazuma from March 2015.
Launched with a hefty price tag of Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Inazuma failed to attract consumers. Coupled with expensive price tag and outdated design, the Inazuma was never looked as a prospective product by consumers who were looking for an entry-level performance motorcycle. The company slashed the price of this quarter-litre motorcycle by Rs 1 lakh few months ago- a way to make it more affordable. However, this didn’t help the bike sell more. The company decided to discontinue the bike because it was no longer viable to sell the bike at this price point.
Powered by a 248cc parallel twin engine, the Inazuma was sold as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit in India. This engine churns out 24bhp and 22Nm of torque through a six-speed gearbox. When we reviewed the Inazuma few months ago, we found it to be a very good daily commuter, however, the price point and its outdated-design didn’t justify it to be a good buy.
