Earlier this year, Suzuki had launched the Inazuma with a steep price tag of Rs 3.1 lakh, though poor sales saw the company cut down its price by one lakh. However, it now seems that Suzuki has permanently discontinued the Inazuma from the Indian market, as the company’s official website no longer lists the motorcycle under its portfolio.
The Inazuma is imported to India through the completely knocked down route, and is assembled at the company’s facility in Gurgaon. The Inazuma thus attracts the punitive import taxes levied by the government, which escalates its price tag into three lakh plus territory.
This outrageous price tag meant that the Inazuma didn’t catch the fancy of the Indian customers and Suzuki recently tried to make amends with the customers by offering a discount of Rs one lakh on the motorcycle.
The Inazuma is powered by a 248cc parallel twin engine which churns out 24bhp and 22Nm of torque through a six-speed gearbox. While the Inazuma is a brilliant all-rounder, the fact remains that its price puts it in contention with other superior motorcycles. We are yet to receive a confirmation from the Suzuki on whether it has actually discontinued the Inazuma, or is it just a technical glitch.
