- A new 250cc bike in the making
- Likely to be an adventure bike
- Will be launched through a new brand
A few months ago, we told you that Suzuki is contemplating an entry-level adventure motorcycle for the Indian market. And now, one of the top honchos has announced its intention of launching a new 250cc Suzuki motorcycle.
Satoshi Uchida, MD, Suzuki India, said that there’s a new 250cc engine under development in Japan for the Indian market. This engine could either power a cruiser or an adventure motorcycle. We believe it’s that latter. According to one of our sources, there’s an ADV being built in the current 250cc platform. This platform has seen bikes like the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250. However, for the upcoming adventure bike, a lot of things are being reworked. The sub-frame will be different. The suspension setup will be different as well.
Suzuki is one of the very few brands in the country who focuses on premium segment. It calls its ADV bikes as V-Strom in global markets. But according to the company official, this new bike launch will be through a new brand.
Currently, there are a very entry-level adventure bikes in the country, with the Hero Xpulse being the most affordable one. Once this Suzuki ADV debuts in the country, it could lock heads with the soon-to-be launched KTM 250 Adventure.
