Suzuki India recently launched the 155cc fully-faired Suzuki Gixxer SF motorcycle. The company now plans to focus on the premium end of the motorcycle segment in India. With this in mind, the manufacturer plans to launch the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F for the Indian market by June 2015.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F are motorcycles similar to the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and Z1000. Amongst these siblings, the former is the fully-faired one, while the latter is a naked street-fighter motorcycle. These superbikes will create a lot of excitement amongst Suzuki fans and enthusiasts when launched in India.
Both the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F are powered by a 999cc, four-stroke, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol engine that churns out 145bhp of power and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The different safety features on the bikes include ABS, traction control, riding modes, etc.
Now, with almost every superbike manufacturer from across the world eyeing to set up shop in India, Suzuki also wants to expand their Indian superbike portfolio. The Japanese manufacturer sold 280 units of superbikes in India last year, but is confident that they will up this number to 400 units this year. We can expect Suzuki to price the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F in the range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
