Suzuki India is going to launch its new premium commuter bike, the Intruder, tomorrow. Featuring low slung styling, the motorcycle is powered by the same 155cc engine as the Gixxer.
Previous spy shots show that the Intruder will feature muscular styling like its namesake – the Intruder M1800. The triangular headlamp, swooping body lines and the twin exhaust outlets give it a striking look. The digital instrument cluster has been borrowed from the Gixxer. A brochure leaked ahead of its launch has shown that the Intruder is powered by the 155cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine delivering 14bhp and 14Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. It also gets a single-channel ABS system.
Suzuki has decided to move its focus from mass-market motorcycles to premium motorcycles and scooters. As such, motorcycles like the Intruder will play a big role in helping the Japanese manufacturer achieve its target of 10 lakh unit sales by 2020. With a price tag similar to the Gixxer SF, the Intruder will compete against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Yamaha FZ-S and the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street.
