Suzuki launched the 155cc Intruder in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 98,340. The bike directly competes against the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street. Give or take Rs 10,000 from the Intruder’s price tag and you have eleven options to choose from. We have put down a list of what else you can buy for the price of a Suzuki Intruder-
The Intruder is not the only bike based on the Gixxer. Suzuki also offers the Gixxer SF Fi, a fully-faired version of the streetfighter Gixxer. It also uses the same 155cc single cylinder engine which produces 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque, although this unit gets an electronic fuel injection system. The bike is priced at Rs 93,032. Yamaha offers a similar motorcycle, the Fazer FI V 2.0, which gets a half-fairing and is based on its streetfighter sibling, the Yamaha FZ V 2.0. It uses a 149cc single cylinder, fuel-injected system which produces 12.9bhp and 12.8Nm of torque. The Fazer FI V 2.0 is priced at Rs 88,143.
If you need more performance than what a 150cc has to offer, there are three bikes you could look at. Bajaj offers the Pulsar 220F which gets a half-fairing that houses the trademark projector headlamp. The bike sports a 220cc DTS-I (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) engine that produces 21bhp and 19Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 92,851. Another bike from the Pulsar range is the NS200. The streetfighter uses a 199ccingle-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that puts out 23bhp and 18Nm of torque. The Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs 96,883.
TVS also offers a performance oriented bike in the form of the Apache RTR 200 4V. The Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 198cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 20.2bhp and 18.1Nm of torque. The aggressively styled bike recently got a fuel-injection system. The price of the standard Apache RTR 200 4V is Rs 92,800.
If you find the Bajaj Avenger 150 Street a tad underpowered for your relaxed commuter bike tastes, Bajaj also offers more powerful variants- The Avenger 220 Street and 220 Cruise. Both bikes have the same design. However, the 220 Street gets all-black parts and alloy wheels and the 220 Cruise sports chrome components and spoke wheels. They use the same 220cc single cylinder engine that produces 19bhp and 17.5Nm of torque and are priced at Rs 88,666.
The Indian market also offers scooters in this price range. There is the Vespa SXL 150, VXL 150 and the Elegante 150. While the SXL 150 looks more modern with its rectangular headlamp, the other two scooters borrow most of their design from the classic Vespa. The three scooters use the same 150cc engine that produces 11.4bhpa and 11.5Nm of torque. The SXL 150 retails for Rs 91,914, the VXL 150 is priced at Rs 88,135 while the Elegante 150 will cost you Rs 90,532.
