- R spec Katana could be under development
- Likely to get a 1135cc engine
- Unveil this year
There’s a new rumour in town and this time, it comes from Suzuki. The company could be working on a top-spec variant of the Katana, which is likely to get the ‘R’ suffix.
The Japanese brand resurrected the legendary Katana brand to compete in the modern litre-class displacement. However, with so many class-leading motorcycles KTM 1290 Super Duke and Aprilia Tuono V4, the Katana got a bit lost. So the only way to make a big name for itself is by having a race-spec version of the bike. That means a bigger displacement engine which now is being said to be around 1135cc. Along with the motor, the bike is likely to get some fancier cycle parts like top of the line suspension and brakes, wheels and some more.
This motorcycle could be unveiled to the world either at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show or the 2019 EICMA Show that is held in Milan, Italy. It will be quite interesting to see how Suzuki manages to pull everyone’s attention with this more expensive Katana.
