It is a big day for Suzuki Motorcycle India as the Indian arm of Japanese bike manufacturer has launched an all-new product today. Called the ‘Gixxer SF 250’, it’s the elder sibling of the Gixxer SF already on sale in the country. Carrying a sticker price of Rs 1.70 lakhs, ex-showroom, New Delhi, the company has now made its foray into the quarter-litre segment of premium motorcycles in India.
The Gixxer SF 250, like its smaller sibling, is a fully-faired motorcycle that looks really appealing. It sports a sharp and edgy design language but, at the same time, it also has a smooth flow when looked from the side. The motorcycle features a split-seat design, clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs which should provide a sporty yet comfortable riding stance that is not too aggressive. Next, it gets a dual-barrel exhaust with a chrome finisher, split-type grab rails, a full LED headlamp unit, LED tail lamp and a fully-digital instrument console.
Powering the quarter-litre offering is a 249cc 4-valve SOHC single-cylinder oil-cooled motor that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 26.1bhp at 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.6Nm at 7500pm. The motor comes mated to a slick six-speed constant mesh gearbox. Suzuki claims, the motorcycle is capable of returning a fuel efficiency of 38.5kmpl.
Coming to the cycle parts, the Gixxer SF 250 features telescopic forks up front and a swingarm-mounted monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels shod with road-biased 110/70 section tyre at the front and a chunky 150/60 section tyre at the rear. For braking, the motorcycle employs disc brakes at both ends equipped with dual-channel ABS.
Suzuki is offering the Gixxer SF 250 with the choice of two colour shades Metallic Matte Platinum Silver and Metallic Matte Black. In terms of competition, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 will lock horns with the KTM RC 200 and the Honda CBR250R.
