- New V-Strom 800 road variant under development
- Gets 19-inch front wheel, shorter-travel suspension
- 2023 EICMA unveil likely
Suzuki is planning to expand its V-Strom family. The company plans to unveil the road-going variant of the V-Strom 800 DE later this year.
This new variant will be called the V-Strom 800 and will get cycle parts that will make it friendlier on the road. This development was revealed with CARB filing and homologation filings in Switzerland. The Japanese brand believes there is a market for a road-focused model in the 800cc space and wants to make its presence felt.
This new Suzuki- V-Strom 800 will likely get a 19-inch front wheel, shorter-travel suspension and a narrower handlebar. The front tyre will be a bit wider at 110/80 compared to the 90/90 seen on the DE variant. The leaked filings also reveal a shorter length, wheelbase and width – compared to the off-road model. However, this height is more, thanks to the addition of a larger windscreen. The performance numbers of this bike are likely to remain the same at 83bhp and 78Nm. It will be linked to a six-speed gearbox.
We expect a 2023 EICMA unveil for this bike, followed by global launches early next year. This motorcycle may come to India, and the brand will launch the V-Strom 800 DE later this year.
