Suzuki Motorcycle India restarts dealerships; resumes sales and service

- Over 50% of dealerships have resumed operations

- Retail and dispatch services resumed except those in containment zones

- Sold 5,000 new vehicles and serviced 50,000 two-wheelers

Suzuki Motorcycle India has resumed the dispatch of its products from May 18. Moreover, that company also confirmed that over 50% of its dealerships have reopened as of 22 May 2020 in a phased manner across the country. The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has sold 5,000 new vehicles and serviced 50,000 two-wheelers at its dealerships. The two-wheeler brand now plans to re-open the remaining dealer network, while adhering to social distancing norms.

The company has ensured that its employees and dealership staff adhere to social distancing norms, and follow safety measures. Suzuki Motorcycle India has charted-out precautionary guidelines for the dealerships for the wellbeing of workforce and customers.

Speaking about the new developments, Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said that the company has resumed retail and dispatch services in almost all parts of the country except those in containment zones as per the Government directives. He further added that Suzuki Motorcycle India has prepared extensive Standard Operating Procedures for the dealerships which include frequent sanitisation and practising social distancing.

In other updates, Suzuki Motorcycle India closed FY2019-20 on a positive note, reporting 2.5% improvement over the previous financial year. The company sold 6,85,223 units in the recently concluded financial year as against 6,68,787 units in FY2018-19. The company will soon update its portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250 and the V-Strom 650 XT.
