Workers at the Suzuki Motorcycle India Gurgaon plant have threatened to go on strike after Holi if their demand to reinstate three suspended workers is not met. The company had suspended three workers for various transgressions in the last two months. Out of the three suspended workers, two are the office bearers of Suzuki Motorcycle Indian Employees Union.
Anil Kumar, president, SMIEU and Avinesh Kumar, general secretary, SMIEU were charged for beating up senior officials of the company in February and March whereas Pradeep Kumar was accused for manhandling a security officer of the plant gate this month.
"We have had talks with the management and labour department officials but nothing has happened. The workers will wait for about 15-20 days after Holi and if their demands are not met, they will go on strike," said Anil Kumar.
"We have suspended three workers, including the General Secretary and President of the union, for beating up senior officials of the company in February and March. At present a departmental enquiry is going on against them" said Anil Munjal, VP, HR, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd.
