- Patent image shows an incomplete design
- Likely to possess an aggressive riding posture
- Description suggests it could get a single-cylinder engine
Suzuki Motor Corporation has filed a patent for what looks like the design of its future café-racer-styled motorcycle. The patent images depict the cycle parts of the bike including wheels, frame, sub-frame and swingarm along with its engine, fuel tank and seat. The overall geometry of the bike signals towards a modern classic café racer model from the Japanese bikemaker.
As apparent from the images, the bike sports a long fuel tank with knee recess which is accompanied by a puny seat resting over a high-set sub frame. The foot pegs are rear set and have been positioned high which will result in an aggressive riding posture. Although the handlebar has not been included in the design, clip-ons would go well with the type of geometry portrayed by the image.
Talking about the heart of the motorcycle, the picture only gives the side-view of the powerplant making it difficult to determine its configuration. However, according to the description mentioned in the patent, it is perhaps a single-cylinder unit. The exhaust pipe is encircled before ending into a short, under-belly canister - a design which might serve the purpose of compliance with new emission norms.
Almost every manufacturer either has or is working on a modern-classic motorcycle owing to its high demand. Apparently, Suzuki is also eyeing to have a chunk of that segment. It remains to be seen how this design takes shape in its final form.
