- It will make the motorcycle more noticeable to other vehicles
- Anti-collision sensors on vehicles will be able to detect these reflectors quickly
- The system doesn’t need external power to operate
Suzuki is working on making its bikes safer in the future. This was confirmed after the brand patented a radar reflector system for its motorcycles.
The system works towards making the motorcycles clearly noticeable to other vehicles. In order to avoid accidents, various manufacturers are developing sensors which can detect other vehicles which are fast approaching towards them. If these systems detect a potential collision, they warn the drivers or, in some cases, control the vehicles automatically to avoid misfortune. Now, Suzuki’s new system will make the motorcycles more prominent when they are in the range of such collision detecting sensors of other vehicles.
These radar reflectors can be mounted on a few strategic points such as inside the headlamp, tail lamp or the rear view mirrors. Notably, these systems don’t need an external power which should make them affordable. Moreover, the simple design and compact size might make them suitable for retrofitting even on the existing motorcycles. The patents suggest this system might be in the development phase which will take them a long time to go into production.
