Competition within the super naked class is growing almost as fast as the other big segments like adventure and super sport. Keen to cash in on this growing sales trend, Suzuki is set to introduce the naked version of its sportiest litre-class model – the GSX-R 1000.
According to German motorcycle magazine Motorrad, this long-rumoured new model will be called GSR 1000 and will feature design cues similar to the GSR 750 (shown above) which is currently a part of Suzuki’s line-up.
Expectedly, the motorcycle will make use of a detuned version of the GSX-R 1000’s 999cc, inline-four engine. The engine, in its current state, produces around 180bhp of power. Suzuki, in all probability, will retune it for improved low and mid-range performance.
According to the report, the new GSR 1000 will make its debut at the international motorcycle show in Cologne in October. When launched, the motorcycle will go up head to head with other super naked models like the Yamaha FZ1 and the Honda CB1000R.
